Rooted Life Foundation Uganda, in partnership with Kabukye Trust, conducted a community outreach focused on raising awareness about sickle cell disease and providing support to affected individuals and families.
The outreach brought together parents and children living with sickle cell disease, alongside other community members, for an initiative centered on awareness, medical checkups, counselling, and community support.
Medical Checkups, Medication and Support for Children with Sickle Cell Disease
The outreach included medical checkups for children living with sickle cell disease. Parents brought their children to receive medical attention and have their health checked by the healthcare team.
Following the checkups, medicine was provided to sickle cell patients as part of the support extended during the outreach. This assistance was intended to help address the healthcare needs of individuals living with the condition and support their ongoing care.
The outreach also provided an opportunity for patients and their families to receive counselling, guidance, and encouragement as they continue navigating the challenges associated with sickle cell disease.
Sickle Cell Testing and Community Awareness
Community members also participated in sickle cell testing, promoting the importance of knowing one’s sickle cell status and encouraging informed decisions about health.
Through awareness and education, the initiative sought to help community members better understand sickle cell disease and the importance of supporting affected families.
Supporting Girls and Vulnerable Community Members
As part of the outreach, sanitary pads were distributed to girls, while clothes were provided to community members in need.
These contributions reflected the broader commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals and responding to different needs within the community.
A Shared Commitment to Better Health and Stronger Communities
Rooted Life Foundation Uganda appreciates Kabukye Trust, the healthcare team, the parents who brought their children for checkups, and everyone who contributed to making the outreach possible.
Through partnerships, awareness, medical support, and community engagement, we remain committed to standing alongside individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease.
Together, let us choose to know, support those affected, and build a more informed and caring community.
